Feeling Good

The song “Feeling Good” by Michael Bublé is one of my all-time favorites. This song lays out my sentiment for 2011 perfectly:  “It’s a new dawn, It’s a new day, It’s a new life, For me, and I’m feeling good”.

What does 2011 hold for you? Aren’t we all tired of the “go nowhere” and “do nothing” resolutions of the past? I know I am. Feeling good about your future means feeling prepared for life’s journey.

I’m excited for all of the opportunities that come with a new year- it’s a blank slate with twelve months of space to fill with all of my business and personal goals. A new year gives each of us that very opportunity. What are you dedicating your precious time to in 2011? Does the use of your time reflect your goals for your work, family, and self? If not, now is a perfect time to reevaluate.

As I concluded 2010 with a warning not to get caught up in a needless search for perfection, I want to begin 2011 with a healthy dose of what I refer to as “Realistic Optimism”.

Monday Morning Perspective:

“An optimist stays up until midnight to see the New Year in. A pessimist stays up to make sure the old year leaves.”- Bill Vaughn

“We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is New Year’s Day.”

If you focus your attention to your strengths that you identified last week, and spend just enough time to improve by just 1% a day, you’ll be twice as good in 70 days. This truth can be applied to any goal- it doesn’t matter if you are hoping to improve your time management skills or your relationship with your significant other or your child.

This week I want to challenge you to set your goals for 2011 high- and write them down! Set reminders in your electronic calendar, and make a daily effort to accomplish them. I’ll be doing the same right alongside you!

Have a wonderful week and a Happy New Year!
